About
Decision-makers and experts frequently express an unmet need for resources to help them better perceive, make sense of, and act upon future changes as they are emerging in the present. More than that, they want to use the insights generated to create novel, value-shifting, and implemented initiatives. This practice is anticipatory innovation.
The Anticipatory Innovation Resources (AIR), help policy practitioners and experts in public sector innovation get started with anticipatory innovation. The resource was developed by OECD OPSI and the Danish Design Centre, with support from the European Commission, and in consultation with futures practitioners who helped identify the most pressing and important answers to spark innovative and value-shifting anticipation.
AIR is composed of three main types of resources, linked together to provide a holistic perspective:
- Questions: starting points and answers to integrate and strengthen anticipatory capacities
- Cases: examples of anticipatory innovation cases in practice
- Approaches: ways of working, tools, and methods to move into action
- Themes: a broad overview of questions, cases and approaches by theme
Use AIR to help identify opportunities to use anticipation, develop effective interventions, apply findings to policy, and communicate results for impact.
