Testing Labelling Dimensions for Chemicals in Products

General Information

Project description

Testing Labelling Dimensions for Chemicals in Products

Analysis Plan

Hypothesis

The purpose of this survey is to design, test, and analyze the effectiveness of labelling dimensions in reducing exposure risk of Canadians to chemicals that are harmful to themselves and the environment. The key outcome of interest – reducing exposure risk by increasing information saliency through product labels – has been operationalized through various dependent measures, which guide the primary hypotheses found below.
1. Making information regarding chemicals more salient via product labels will increase consumer awareness of chemicals found in products they purchase, which will, in turn;
a. Decrease intent to purchase.
b. Lead to low perceptions of safety of products for own use.
c. Lead to low perceptions of safety of products for the environment.
