Czech Television put on dedicated educational programming for primary school children

Innovative response

Since March 16, Czech Television has been running a unique program called UčíTelka . Every day, students of the first grade of elementary schools wait for TV lessons on CT2.

Every weekday from 9 am, classes start. Each class will last thirty minutes and will be designed for one year of the first stage with a short break in the form of educational programs produced by Déčka. Broadcasting will be regular to allow parents to adjust their daily schedule accordingly. One teacher will always teach the classroom backdrop, three children will also take part in the classroom.

Specific issues addressed and anticipated impact

At the time of extraordinary measures and school closure throughout the Czech Republic, Czech Television want to offer children an alternative to classical school education, which can complement their self-study and also make it easier for parents. Therefore, Czech Television have prepared live broadcast teaching blocks led by educated educators. The new UčíTelka project is primarily intended for primary school pupils.
