Innovative response
Even if the National Statistical Institute does not have as objective the production of experimental statistics, the topic is becoming one of the INS concerns, understanding the need during this difficult period for statistical benchmarks for substantiating the public and private decisions needed for the following months.
Specific issues addressed and anticipated impact
"1. The first experimental survey carried out by INS in order to measure the impact of SARS-Cov.2 on the economic environment for the months of March and April 2020 was an ad-hoc survey addressed to the directors of the territorial statistical directorates in the country on their perception regarding the reduction of the activity volume and number of employees, by sectors of activity.
2. Likewise, in order to measure the impact of SARS- Cov 2 on the economic environment, the INS carried out an ad-hoc survey addressed to 8831 managers of companies in the manufacturing industry, construction, retail and services regarding their perception on the evolution of the activity of the company they run for March and April. The results were based on the answers of the economic agents, collected on March 16 and 17, 2020.
3. In the same context, to measure the impact of SARS-Cov.2 on the volume of exports and imports of March 2020, the INS carried out an ad-hoc survey addressed to 1796 companies engaged in foreign trade.
