“Data against Covid”: A joint initiative of technology experts and skilled volunteers to help government – COVID.CZ

Number of locally based IT companies and enthusiasts joined a “COVID19.CZ” initiative with the goal to help the government to deal with a new pandemic situation as effectively as possible. Experts and skilled volunteers provide modern technology; assist with data analysis and communication toward citizens and health care workers. Key projects are implemented under pro bono agreements and in coordination with the chief digital officer of the Czech Republic. The “Smart Quarantine” solution is implemented by the Ministry of Health.

Specific issues addressed and anticipated impact

Through their projects, the COVID.CZ initiative addresses several issues:
- Using data and technology in an effort to slow-down the epidemic and minimize negative impacts of it;
- Protecting health care workers by providing needed equipment and support;
