Organisations/institutions involved

  1. The following information was added on 02 June 2020:

    – The health crisis has accentuated the need for forms of collaboration between the administration and civil society. Before the publication of data by SPF, civil society has helped aggregate all the official data sources published by public institutions (the Ministry of Health, regional health agencies, prefectures, etc.). Based on these data and the one published by Santé publique France, Etalab has developed in collaboration with the SIG a data visualization dashboard directly integrated into the official government website. Collaboration between civil society and the administration was a key element here. It significantly helped the government to be able to propose quickly a tool that offered the most up-to-date view of the situation.

    – The need for citizens to be informed in real time about the Covid-19 situation, better access to data for journalists and researchers, quick access to relevant data for the public administration, also the need for transparency and trust with regards to government communication that is met by publishing data that allows the situation to be objectified. Open data is also a great tool to monitor the situation and make informed decisions.
