Zackig.Online – Digital Volunteers for Corona-affected SMEs

Innovative response

We launched a pro bono initiative where Corona-affected small businesses get help from volunteers to quickly build digital channels: Videochats, Websites, Onlineshops, etc; The aim is to help the businesses reach their customer segments on new channels / find new customer segments online

Specific issues addressed and anticipated impact

Many small businesses are currently under great / existential stress. Government aid helps with wages but does not cover fixed costs (e.g., rent). Digital channels provide short term help (and can even assist in recovering lost revenue in the long term), but SMEs often lack the know-how and resources to build them - especially quickly.

Organisations/institutions involved

Right now it's a small team of volunteers

Potential issues

We have strong networks in the "digital industry" and should be able to recruit volunteers, but to match them with the SMEs which are affected the most, we need strong partners that are able to reach them (e.g., traditional media, official institutions). We currently simply lack the resources to reach out and build partnerships.
